Windows XP Genius Needed For This Annoyance

This may be a trivial issue but I'm seeking a solution for it because it is
annoying....this has been a problem with XP whether a service pack is
installed or not...

If I open Windows Explorer, have the view by "list" set as default and go to
directory windows/system32, the scrollbar response to display all the files
is very poor, as it hesitates and freezes up temporairly while moving the
scrollbar to view the files. If I have the view of Windows Explorer set to
any other setting (i.e. thumbnails, tiles, icons, details), scrolling is not
impeeded and is very fast.

Any help to fix this problem is greatly appreciated.

hi,
i am not sure whether this is a solution but you can try
this if you want

first go to any directory right click anywhere on the
empty space or go to view menu->large icon, small....
choose any display. then go to tools menu-> folder options
or start->control panel->folder options---->view tab and
click on folder views-> like current folder ant hit apply
then ok

i think this will work because this was an issue with my
winxp also

hope it'll works

I fixed my own problem. Went to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\dllfile\DefaultIcon and changed the
default value from 1 to %SystemRoot%\System32\shell32.dll,-154
