Hi all i'm running windows xp home on a dual p4 3.8gig with 2gig of ram , x
2 400gig sata hard drives in raid 0 mode with x2 7800 512meg nvidia graphic
cards in SLI mode and a netgear wireless adsl router but what my problem is
everytime i boot the machine up it freezes for about a couple of minutes
before my desktop comes up on screen , all i've got running on start-up is
the speaker icon and norton internet security i've scanned the machine for
spyware with microsoft defender & search & destrory and they have found
nothing, someone said 2 me once that it could be my router that's the
problem something to do with the dchp , but i dont use dchp to connect to
the internet i've got a static ip address, it's been like this for a few
day's now, i've even been thinking about going back to windows 98se and
see'ing if it still does it on that , has anybody got any idea's why Win xp
is freezing on startup as i'm stumped as what's causing it
Thank's in Advance

"All you have running on start up is the speaker icon and norton"...Try
opening
task mgr, you'll probably see 30-40 services running at start up.As for "going
back to 98" if youve upgraded to home from 98 you ought to spend some time
learning a computers OS.98 uses FAT32,xp uses ntfs file system.Youre RAID
configuration, nvidia drivers, etc wont be useing the default xp drivers with
FAT32.
You ought to reinstall xp,this time do a clean installation w/o 98
involved,the
whole system will run 100% better.
