Windows XP Disk Defragmenter

Something I'm loading on a Windows XP Home Edition PC is
causing the following error: "The scan has been canceled
because an error occurred in file c:\windows\IsUninst.exe"
The version of that file is exactly the same as the
version on another XP Home Edition PC that runs Disk
Defrag OK. However; there are several programs that aren't
present on the PC that runs defrag successfully...for
example...Nero, Logitech keyboard software. I can't find
any reference to this message on the web (searched
Google). Thanks.

I had a similar error last week and solved the problem by
running:

CHKDSK /F

Apparently there was a botched directory entry.
