Hi,

Windows XP closes down any application ran. It also closes down
installation process of Norton Anti-virus and AVG. I installed adaware and
removed all the spyware but it doesn't make any difference. I took the hard
drive to another computer, scanned for viruses & detected Clicker.E virus.
The virus has been successfully deleted but closing down problem still
exist.

Please help
Garry

It is not Xp but more likely the results of the virus. Check out the
instructions here:

How do you know the application was even open? Do you have Task Manager
open and see the process show up and then it immediately disappears without
any window opening for the application? Does the application load, display
its window, and then sometime later close? If so, how long before the
application closes after opening it?

Have you started up in Safe Mode? Have you tried using msconfig.exe to
disable all startup programs and then loading into normal mode (without all
the startup programs running)?

Anything listed in the Event Viewer logs, like in the Application log for
the applications that getting closed?
