Windows XP CD writing Wizard error

When I try to burn a CD using windows XP it begins saying it is adding data
to the CD image. Then after a short period it reports. Cannot complete the CD
writing Wizard. There was an Error in the writing process.
I have tried closing background programs and emptying the temporary file but
none of these help. Can anyone help with this problem.
