Where can I get the download for the basic calculator for
windows XP?

The calculator application is automatically installed with Windows XP. It's
in Start / [All] Programs / Accessories.

If you can't find it, try Start / Run / type CALC.EXE and click OK

to reinstall, go start|settings|control panel|add/remove programs|add/remove
windows components. highlight 'accessories and utilities' and click
'details.' highlight 'accessories' and click 'details.' make sure there's a
check in 'calculator.'

if there's already a check there but calc isn't working, uncheck it and
'okay' your way out. go back in and recheck it. that should reinstall.
