Windows XP books

Never having used XP before, what are the recommended books?

I already have the Windows Internals book, and Windows XP InsideOut Deluxe
Edition (this might be from before SP2).

Any recommendations?

What about the following?

Windows xP Registry Guide
Windows xP Professional Resource Kit

Others??

Those will be fine. Don't waste your money on anything else.

Other than a new copy of Inside Out you have the best.

I just checked, I do have only the SP1 version of the book.

Is it worth buying the SP2 version of the book?

I don't know how you use Windows so only you can decide that. I bought the
updated edition myself. The security changes in SP2 are covered in the
updated edition.

Go to a store and look at the new one and see what the differences
are.

Personally, I wouldn't, but it's your choice.

Hard to do without having the two editions side by side.

Stick with what you have then.

I can't see how the newer edition would be of any help to the average
user, and since you're asking for advice on books, I'd guess that you
aren't above that classification.

Besides, XP is about to disappear from the shelves and only Vista will
be available. Save your money until you buy Vista 6 years from now.

Bad guess.

Then you're smart enough to do your own research and find the books on
your own.

The point of these newsgroups is to save each other time.
Seeking opinions from those already familiar with a book makes perfect
sense.
