Windows XP automatic Update

Marc

Microsoft's automatic Windows Update downloads this
update every day: 811493: Security Update (Windows XP);
The installation appears to be successful, yet it
continues to download this update and prompts me to
install it. How can I fix this problem?

Marc,

I've been having the same problem and can't seem to find
an answer either. Has anybody gotten back to you with a
solution? If so, could you let me know? Thanks.

Possible solutions:

1 - Delete or rename the folder c:\windows\system32\catroot2

Then do the updates again.

2 - Start/stop the auto-update service.

Start, control panel, administrative tools, services, right click automatic
updates, click stop. Right click again, click start.
