windows XP annoying error messages

I recently removed the blaster worm from my system using
an antivirus software -- I now get a flurry of error
dialog boxes at startup. referring to
C:\windows\winset1.exe. (cant load). I've tried many
system restores w/o success. I've used pcbug DOCTOR TO
clean up some of the issues but not these. I suspect
there is something in the system registry. but XP will
not allow me to use regedit.exe to look.

How do fix this problem---I can close all of the dialog
boxes without any ill effect to my computer.

If you go to Start>Run type: regedit the registry editor doesnt
open? If it does navigate to
HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run, Run
once etc
Look in the right pane for any entries that included winset1.exe and
delete them.

Too add: When removing a virus/worm, it is recommended that you disable
System Restore which removes all previous Restore Points that might be
infected, and which an antivirus removal tool can't gain access to. When
the virus/worm has been removed, enable System Restore again, and new
Restore Points will again be automatically generated.
