windows xp and word

I have got the home edition of xp and it has a microsoft
works 6.0 word processor and also wordpad, I have been
trying for almost a week to post a resume online, but it
keeps telling me to use a .doc extension. with this
version of xp do i still need to purchase a verion of
word too, or is it inplemented right into the works word
processor. any help on this would be great. thanx,dale

Works 6.0 may be able to save in Word 6.0 format, and WordPad certainly can.
In the Save As dialog, check on the file formats you can use.
