Windows XP and RAID 0?

I've been attempting to install a couple of WD Raptor 36G drives in a RAID 0
array, and get stopped every time. I've got an Intel MOBO with Serial ATA
RAID built-on the board (Silicon Image) I've got the drives connected,
they're recognized by the MOBO, and I can configure the array. The problem
comes when I start to install XP. I boot from the CD, press F6, feed it the
proper drivers, and XP then recognizes the single 76G array. Then XP creates
a partition, but won't use it. The installer says that the partition isn't
Windows XP compatible, and I'm stopped. I'm stumped. Any ideas?

I actually installed both drives and formatted them together as an array,
and then separately to test the drives. They worked fine in a working
Windows XP system.

I guess the equally silly retort is: is there another way to format the
partition other than what I've described? Is there a utility in the RAID
setup program, or in Windows XP setup?

There is a format utility in Setup and it should prompt you as to which
partition to use. You did see the partition in setup, didn't you?

You don't format drives for Win 2K/XP, setup does that when you create an OS
partition.

Yes, I see the partition, and as soon as I select it, I get the message that
says the partition isn't compatible with Windows XP. After that, I have no
option for format, like I usually do during setup.

Except when XP setup created the partition, it's labeled as new and raw, and
I get no option to format.

Have you configured the BIOS to accept both the SATAs and RAID as they need
to be "switched on"

This is easly done throught the BIOS
