Windows XP Academic Version Upgrade

Hi,

I am just wanting to know will XP Pro Academic Version let me work the
upgrade if the previous version of windows on the PC was a pirated
copy?

Just don't want to go wasting my money if it's not going to work

Should it really matter if the previous version of Windows
(which one) was pirated? The bought Windows XP Pro academic
version is legitimate, provided the conditions of sale have
been met. If the prior version is XP-pirated, then a repair
install will fix the issue. OTOH, it always pays to do a new,
clean install of Windows XP if the prior installation was
something else. Moreover, IIRC, the pricing of the XP Pro
academic version is still better than the price of the retail,
XP Pro upgrade version (there is no OEM upgrade version).
