windows wont shut down

need help on my windows xp when i try to restart or shutdown my computor it
goes through all process but hangs up on windows is shutting down and i have
to turn it off by the power button. can anyone tell me what i can do.

Failure to shut down is most often caused by programs and/or processes
that are refusing to exit gracefully. Quite often these programs are
malware, so do the normal scanning with your AV and tools like Spybot
Search & Destroy and Ad-aware (in Safe Mode) to ensure your computer is
spyware and virus-free.
