Have you tried logging in as Administrator while in Safe
Mode? You can launch Safe Mode by pressing F8
early during the boot phase.

What exactly do you mean with "System Recovery"?

Also:
- Do you have other machines with which the problem PC is networked?
- If not, is this a desktop? Do you have access to another desktop?

I have the same problem as super_short3 (also XP sp2):
The matter began with a PC´s low performance and misfunction of some
progrmas like IE or Firefox (could'nt connect to the internet in spite of i
could make correct ping and telnet to google f.e).
I supected about a virus and tried to install Trend Micro Antivirus but the
PC hung in the middle of the process.
I restarted but by that moment when I try to login if put a bad password the
system detects it and tell me; if I login it apparently logs in but in this
moment it says "login out..." and displays login popup again.
That mattes too in safe mode with administrador login too.

I woke up with an utility CD and passed an antivirus that detected a lot of
Gael.worm.2 infected files so it cleanesd all of the viruses, but the PC
behaves already the same

Thanks

Installing Trend AntiVirus when the PC is already infected is
far too late. In your case I recommend that you save your
important files, including your EMail data, to a backup device,
then re-install Windows onto a freshly formatted disk.
