Windows Wont Load

My Windows loads upto the welcome screen and when i log
in it locks up with just the background showing and i
leave it sit for a while and nothing happens. What do i
do?
 
I Have also tried to repair XP from my cd in dos by
booting from the disk. But it says that the setup cannot
be run in dos. Please i need my computer working again,
can someone help me!!!
