Hi all,
Windows xp starts up, I click my name (profile). It
says "loading up personal settings." It starts up and
shows my wallpaper picture and then that is it--no
taskbar, no START button, no icons, nothing else.
CTRL-ALT-DEL will actually bring up Windows Task Manager
and through that, I can access the hard drive files and
look at them. I can also use RUN through Windows Task
Manager and actually start some applications--some work
and some don't.
I tried to start System Restore this way and it wouldn't
work, neither would any Norton disk checking applications
but I was able to start Outlook Express and check my email
and then I was able to back up all of my files, thank
goodness, with another program.
I was able to run all of the diagnostic tools from the CD
before starting Windows and everything passed.
I started the computer in safe mode and still there is
nothing there--it just says Safe Mode.
Can anyone help? I just got this computer back from the
manufacturer and had to reinstall everything and it was
working fine for 2 weeks. I don't want to send it off
again unless I absolutely have to.
Thanks in advance.
