Windows Vista with English

I purchased a laptop with Windows Vista in Germany. The software
works great, but is there any way I switch Vista to English? Its the
Windows Vista Home edition. Or do I need to buy a copy of Windows
Vista in English and reinstall?

Yep, you gotta buy a new one. Check out Ubuntu, free and can be
installed in any language you desire: http://www.ubuntu.com/

You need to buy an English language version. Vista Home and Vista premium
are not multi language, unfortunately. Vista Ultimate, on the other hand,
does have additional language packs that can be installed.

In Control Panel open Regional and Language Options

- Keyboards and languages
- Change keyboards
- Under 'Installed services' click 'Add'
- Select English there is a variety of choices for (UK, US, Canadian) expand
either one you choose and check it

- now click the OK button, you are returned to Text Services and Input
Languages, General.
- move English up or down, in list of installed languages, if desired.
- click on the "Language Bar" tab
- make sure Language Bar is enabled; either Floating on Desktop, or Docked
in the Taskbar.
- click on OK to exit Text Services and Input Languages.
- click on OK to exit Regional and Language Options.

Some of the information here is based on steps provided by Andrew McLaren
for a similar post related to some wanting to set their language options to
Spanish. (Just giving credit where credit is due).

Forget what I said, I just realized you are running Windows Vista Home, you
will need Windows Vista Ultimate for this. You can acquire an Anytime
Upgrade license that will upgrade your installation of Vista Home Basic or
Premium to Vista Ultimate.

No but he may want a different alternative that is free.. like going back to
XP using M$ free XP license for vista users if he can find someone with a
suitable XP disk.

Or maybe buy an OEM vista disk which is only around £50 which should be fine
as he already has an OEM license.
