Windows Vista Ultimate not booting due to Corrupt file

Hi,

My PC is not booting (even in safe mode) due to corrupt/missing
\windows\system32\config\system file. What should I do? This PC has dual
boot of XP/Vista. When I try to start the PC with Vista DVD with Repair mode
then it does not list any OS installed on the repair menu.

How to repair my Vista installation. I see a KB/307545 for XP not no hits
for Vista.

I will appreciate your help.

Regards

Hello,
What is the exact error message that you see and when do you see it?
Do you still see the Windows Vista Boot Menu?
Have you booted into Windows XP or not? If not you may have a Restore
Point available to you to roll back to available from the Safe Mode Screen.
Thanks,
