I have lost the translucent icon for my Pictures folder, it has gone the
standard yellow colour and will not display its contents (despite using
Properties/Customize/Folder pictures/Choose file).
All other folders are (translucent) OK

Thank you for your prompt response Mark.
My OS is Windows Vista Premium SP1, but the problem has been there well
before the SP1 update.
I have applied the procedure outlined by Ramesh to no avail. I should
mention that I have moved all folders to drive D: right after the original OS
install, so I used the "Copy as Path" as well with negative result.
Any other thoughts or clarification of the procedure? My level of expertise
is limited but I am used to working with the c:\ prompt and all the more
basic commands in DOS.

Further to my comments dated 12/7/08, I have discovered that by ticking off
the "hide protected operating system files" in the folder options/view I can
see these desktop.ini files in all the folders (translucent or not).
I thought that, by having selected "show hidden files and folders", I was
seeing them.
Now, I ended up with two of them (identicals) in my Pictures folder. I
deleted the one I created and repeated the running ot the ATTRIB command to
no avail.
Any further ideas that can help me will be greatly appreciated
