windows vista not detect my network hardware

this problem has been haunting me for a few months until now. it happened a
few times before and now it happens again but i cant still connect to the
internet after a few days of configuring here and there. im running on
windows vista ultimate installed in my desktop. it seems that every time i
woke the pc up from sleep or turned it on after shut down (but not for
restart), vista seemed not to detect my network hardware. there'll b red X
cross on the connectivity icon and it stated that im not connected to any
network. afew times before i got lucky, i dunno what i fixed but my pc seemed
to overcome the problem but not this time. i had tried installing all those
updates by vista and hotfixes recommended in most forums but to no avail.
vista seems not to detect my network adapter. i've checked on device manager,
where all devices seems to be there except for my NIC (realtek 8111). ive
also updated my NIC with the latest driver from realtek but nothing happened.
the LED at the back where the ethernet cable is connected not blinking
anymore. any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi

I get the same behavior with my usb scanner. I worked for many days to solve
the problem. Now I have set the PC to never sleep and always close it down
fully, not the ideal answer but stopped the annoying problem every time I
needed to use my scanner.
