I just started having an issue with being able to select an email recipient
from my Contacts List using the 'TO:' button when composing an email message.
What is the issue causing this?

Are you typing any part of the address before using the To: button? If so,
Windows Mail will not use the contacts list, but a separate list of the last
29 addresses you sent messages to. This list is very hard to edit; it's
easier just to send messages to the 29 addresses you want on the list.

If this doesn't help, you may need to start Windows Mail, then click on
Tools, then Windows Contacts, then right click in the empty space under
the right side of the toolbar, then click on Customize This Folder, then
the triangle, then Contacts, then Apply, then OK, then close the contacts
window.

I am having the same problem.....did you ever find out what is causing this?
I have had this problem for a week or longer. When you click on the TO:
button, the whole section of contacts starts flashing and when you scroll
down the list it automatically goes back to the beginning of the contacts
list. What can we do to fix this?

Which antivirus are you running?
Some of them cause problems for Windows Mail after a period of time.

I am using PC Cillin

There are some that cause problems which don’t always appear immediately.

Recent versions of Trend Micro's PC-Cillin have caused problems
with Windows Mail. As a test, uninstall your antivirus, reboot, then try
Windows Mail again. If that cured the problem, we can recommend a
free antivirus that is more compatible.

Having problem opening contacts to edit. Just flashes the contact on the
screen and disapears. Also cannot us the TO function on a new message.
Anyone Know when Gates and group will ever fix this piece of XXXXXX Vista.
Or does any one have a fix for this problem, since it seems to be up to us to
fix their JUNK_____

I had the same problem. Solution 1 is that if you get a new VISTA computer,
DO NOT try to use Outlook 2000. The new WINDOWS MAIL included with VISTA is
better than Outlook 2000 and you should have no problems. However, if you
are now trying to use WINDOWS MAIL after configuring OUTLOOK 2000 and have a
problem with WINDOWS CONTACTS try this below.

There are 2 files that are causing the problem. wab32.dll & wab32res.dll
First check that these two files are in the two following locations:

1) C:\windows\system32
2) C:\programfiles\commonfiles\system

If they are both there, so far, so good. Go into the C:\windows\system32
folder and find these two files. Rename wab32.dll to wab32old.dll and
wab32res.dll to wab32resold.dll. Leave the files in
C:\programfiles\commonfiles\system unchanged.

That's it!! Now, with WINDOWS MAIL you should be able to add to contacts and
use the contacts for picking email recepients.

Hope to solve your problem, good luck !!
