Windows (Vista) Crashes - "multiple copies of Antivirus running"

Hi,

My windows Vista crashes everytime I start-up. It goes to blue screen and
re-boots with the following error: (from the reliability and performance
monitor)

OS Stopped working; Ver 6.0.6000; Failure detail: 0x0000001a (0x00041284,
0x10034001, 0x00000000, 0xc0801000).

The system checks the micosoft server and comes back telling me I have
"multiple copies of Antivirus software running".

I currently have Norton protection centre installed with Symantic Antivirus;
firewall, intrusion protection and spyware. I have checked the system and
have no other antivirus software installed. I have just about uninstalled
everying thing and re-installed the minimum but I still have the same
problem. I have the full 2007 Office suite installed as well.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Tony

The 0x0000001a has always indicated a memory management error. I doubt it's
been changed for Vista and suspect that the help system is returning an
erroneous message. I suspect a bad RAM module and suggest using Vistas
Memory Diagnostic tool or memtest86 to test your RAM. (I serviced an XP
machine yesterday that was crashing on every start up with a 0x0000001a
error. One of the two RAM chips was bad.)
