Windows Update won't run

When i run Windows Update, i get "Windows Update Error",
and the note that "Windows Update has encountered an error
and cannot display the page." There is also an error
number of 8007007E if that helps.... Am logged on as
Adminstrator. Any help much appreciated.

Many thx for the reply, but alas.... Tried the directory
delete to no avail. Windows Update starts up, goes to
check for latest version (as before), and then dies (as
before)... Any ideas?
