I have a new install of XP Pro with SP3, and while automatic updates work, I
can't get the manual updates to work. I click "custom", the green thing goes
back and forth for hours, it goes no further. Is there a way to reset
something here? I've just installed XP pro SP3 on 3 machines with exactly
the same software, I only get this on one of them.

Thanks

Try Method 1 and/or Method 2 - ignore the title as it applies to fresh install etc
Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or by
using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP installation

Try internet options, settings, view objects,R.click each one at a time,
select "update"..Also,if update runs the scroll-bar longer than 2-3 minutes,
click on update-home,it'll reset it.
