windows update problem

I cannot update windows without getting the error number
0x800B0004. I believe I may have a virus. I have been
getting an NT Authority/system shutdown command. It
gives me 60 seconds to save everything before shutting my
computer down. I do not know if this is related to my
download problem, but I'm trying to download to,
hopefully, rid this problem.

Larry,
The NT Authority/System shutdown problem indicates that you probably have
the MS Blaster worm. See Bruce Chambers' reply in the 5th message before
this one for tips on how to fix this problem. Message subject is "re: xp
worm".

I'm not sure what the windows update error number means. What were you
doing when you got it? Try fixing the Blaster problem first and post back
if you still have trouble.

Hi Larry,

When the shutdown warning appears, click start/run and enter "shutdown -a"
to halt the process. It's a virus called blaster or lovesan. Information:

You need the patch described here to protect against it:

Problem is, you needed to install the patch BEFORE you got infected to avoid
it. Once you get it cleared up, post back if you are still having trouble
with the update site.
