Windows Update problem

Every time I run Windows Update from IE6, it tells me that I need to
download and install critical update # 819696 (a DirectX
vulnerability). I have downloaded and updated this patch several
times, but Windows never seems to remember that the patch has been
applied. (This is running Windows XP Home.)

Any ideas on how I can "convince" the Update engine that this patch
has already been installed???
