Windows update not working

A friend has brought his PC (Laptop) to me because it is not updating Windows.
Whenever we try it says your current security settings forbid ActiveX to run.
I have tried everything. Been into IE tool security and set to Medium. Tried
switching signed ActiveX controls to enabled. Tried OleFix nothing has
worked.
Please help its driving me mad...!

Try the public.windowsupdate group - you are not alone with this particular
problem.
