windows update locking up my browser

After repairing an installation with win xp home, my IE locks up when I go
to windows update. I tried using mozilla but the website says I need to be
running IE. Please help me! I can browse the internet without any other
lockups...JUST with Windows update.

WinsockxpFix.exe will fix the TCP/IP stack. I used this to fix an IE
problem before (that Firefox did not have) for a few web pages.

I ran that file and it did not fix it.
