Windows Update killed my Start Menu

Windows Vista just did some kinf of update and now all my programs are
unavailable from the start menu.
Thre is nothing left and the ones that are there say they are no
longer available.

How do I get them back?
 
Start> Programs >Accessories >System Tools >System restore > restore to
before the problem.
If using Norton, disable it before using SR.

Change Auto updates to "Notify you, etc...." and see what the problem update
was.
If you do not want t install it> right-click "hide it"
