A recent MS update to my XP Home has caused the
Autoexec.nt file to be deleted from the system32
directory at every boot. I need this file to run my
accounting program. I expanded the .nt program from my XP
cd and put it into a temp directory. When I want to run
the accounting program I copy it to the system32
directory first and it runs fine. I am now trying to find
a way to transfer the .nt program by running a .bat type
program, adding it to the command line for the accounting
program, etc.

Why not expand it to your system 32 file?
I did expand to the System32 directory and lost the file
at the next boot. I put it in the Temp directory which
the update program doesn't look into.
If you haven't noticed all the problems with this file
started occurring in August 2004. To me that means the
update wasn't losing this file before then.
I think MS should look into this problem ASAP.

Type "auditing files" in help.
Note Auditing MUST be turnied on, then the file needs to be set for auditing.

Because it is affecting many people recently there will be a virus, spywear, or a program update of some sort causing it.
