Windows Update error 1058

Joan

The Win Update wants Automatic Updatdes set to Automatic.
I did this but it did not start. I tried to manually
start it and I got an Error Message.

Could not start Automatic Updates service on Local
Computer. Error 1058: Thse service cannot be started,
either because it is disabled or because it has no
enabled devices associated with it.

Well it has been set to auto start up, so I guess it
needs some devices enabled. Which ones and how do I do
this?

TIA

Go to Start > Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Click on the General tab, place a dot next to 'Normal
Startup', click Apply and reboot.

Hi: I kept looking thru the MS site and found advice to go to
Services, Auto Updates, Properties, Log on and check the Enable
button. This worked. Thank you for your help too.
