Windows Update Encountering An Error

E

Eric

When I go to Windows Update and press 'Scan for Updates', I get an error
message that reads 'Windows Update has encountered an error. This may be due
to a discrepancy in your computer's time setting'.

To check your date and time setting:

1.. On the taskbar, double-click the time.
2.. Verify that the date and time is correct.

There is a reporting link and error number (0x800C0008) which I have passed
on to MS, but besides that, do you have any suggestions that would alleviate
this problem and allow me to scan for updates. This is the first time it has
happened and nothing new has been configured in my Windows XP computer since
the last scan. Note: My computer clock is correct and I have rebooted the
machine. Thanks in advance. Eric
