Does anyone know a good tutorial on how to create a windows tray application
with a pop-up? Very much like MSN Messenger notification.

Take a look at the VB PowerToys, they include such a component:

Thanks for correcting that. I mixed up PowerToys with PowerPack and then
picked up the wrong link :-(.
