Windows toolbar

Hello,

I created a windows toolbar and want to give a name to each item on the tool
bar, but can't see where to change the default url name (when it is an
internet short cut) .. e.g. I made a short cut for the NY times and want it
to show NY times when I move the mouse pointer over its icon (I currently
see its url) . I can "name" icons for programs which reside on my pc, but
not for Internet links.

Is there a way to do what I want?

Any help would be much appreciated.

There's probably a better way, but here's what I would do:

- Make as many shortcuts to IE as you'll need (Firefox in my case).

- Edit the properties:

Target: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" nytimes.com

(for example)

- In the Comment: pane, add the name you prefer to see when you hover
over it.

- Drag it to your toolbar.

Many thanks for your reply .. still cannot get it to work the way I want ..
when I make a shortcut to a url (I also use firefox) and paste it onto the
toolbar I don't get the tab for Shortcuts .. just get "General" and "Web
document" tabs. there is a box where you can put a name on the "General"
tab, but it does not appear when you move the mouse pointer over the icon ..

I am probably doing something really stupid, but cannot see what it is ..
just call me confused

You have to create shortcuts to Firefox, not URL shortcuts. Then edit
the shortcut, add a space and the URL afterwards, like I mentioned
above. These shortcuts to Firefox should open Firefox, then go to the
url you added to its Target line.
