Windows too big.

XPHome SP3.

I notice that some programmes these days seem to come with standard window
sizes bigger than my old laptop screen so that I can't get at some of the
control areas.

On the shortcut for my command prompt there is a properties sheet that
includes settings for the window sizes, which is very handy, but other
shortcuts do not include tabs for this parameter.

Where are the settings for the window sizes for each other programme held -
presumably the registry somewhere?

Cheers,

It varies from program to program.
When your window is too big, try right-clicking in an empty area in the
tray (usually at bottom of screen) and then select "Cascade Windows".
This should resize the window and put scroll bars on the window so that
you can get to the other parts of it.

Thanks for the tip John,

Rather irritatingly, one program (an evaluation version of AVS Video
Converter) opens up an edit window, from its main window, that is bigger
than my screen and covers up the tray area in a way that prevents it popping
up, to get at the cascade options: possibly this is deliberate.

As it happens I have now found a more cooperative program (Audacity:
Brilliant!), but I would have liked a way to control the various window
sizes. I also found 'Auto Window Manager', but the large secondary window
does not show up as a window on it.

Cheers,
