Windows Task Manager failure

When I installed my wireless network hardware, my Windows Task Manager won't
come up. It happened after I restarted the computer. When I tried to bring
it, it won't show up even though the menu 'Task Manager' is still on the list
of menus when you left-click the taskbar.
After I scandisked My Computer after it crashed, the 'Task Manager' menu is
greyed out.
What happened to my computer? My mother's computer suffers the same problem
and we're both on Windows XP Professional

What says, "GDC.exe does not exist"?

GDC.exe looks to be part of a trojan.

Try one of the other links.

Uh-oh. It says "GDC.exe does not exist" when I tried your first link.
What should I do?

What I mean was that when I tried to use the registration entry from the
first link (labeled "taskmanager") a popup shows up that says
"Windows cannot find GDC.exe
This program is needed to opening files of type 'Registration Entries'
Type in executable file to be used instead"

Then there is a box with C:\ ready and the boxes
'OK' 'Cancel' and 'Browse'

What should I do?

Let me see if I have this straight.

You downloaded taskmanager.reg from
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

You then double clicked taskmanager.reg and got the popup referring to
GDC.exe.

GDC.exe is *not* needed or wanted for anything. It is part of a trojan.
You have a trojan.

Double clicking taskmanager.reg should bring up a message similar to this...
---------------------------
Registry Editor
---------------------------
Are you sure you want to add the information in
C:\DOCUME~1\WESLEY~1.VOG\Desktop\TASKMA~1.REG to the registry?
---------------------------
Yes No
---------------------------

If you click Yes, you get a message similar to this
---------------------------
Registry Editor
---------------------------
Information in C:\DOCUME~1\WESLEY~1.VOG\Desktop\TASKMA~1.REG has been
successfully entered into the registry.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.
