windows system files

Hi
We have PCs with Windows XP professional SP2. We also have a VB 6.0/Access
application that requires certain system files to run correctly. Updating
this appl will require the installation/registration of several more system
files on any XP machine that runs the appl.

Our developer created an install shield-like setup file that installs and
registers these files in the c:/windows/system32 directory. However, when I
execute the setup.exe file to run it, I receive an error message stating:
“Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your
system. Click OK if you would like setup to update these files for you now.
You will need to restart Windows before you can run setup again. Click cancel
to exit setup without updating system files.â€

My question is is it safe to overwrite some of the existing files to create
and register the new ones?

It is not an error message.

It is an informative message.

Does your developer not understand what this message means, and which
results from popular search engines (e.g. Google) regarding the
message were not well understood?
