Hello,

Need some help and advice.

After the intial stages of installation on windows xp professional edition,
the computer just hangs at the start up screen after the restart.

The hard disk have been formatted and partitioned by the installation disc
and after copying over the necessary installation files, the computer will
hang there after the reboot process.

I do not know what is wrong, the hard drive originally worked but I had
deleted the partiton on the drive and did a fresh install but now it just
hangs as described above.

The drive is a WD160 IDE drive. It is sitting on master on it's own IDE.
Secondary IDE have 2 DVD rom Drive connected for Primary and Secondary.

I have done fresh installs before, but this time it's pulling my hair out.

What I think I did wrong was removing the partition with fdisk using a
windows me startup disk. However, I formatted the drive completely using
fdisk also windows xp installation disk, but everytime it loads, it's always
stuck at the reboot process after copying all the necessary install files to
the HD.

Please let me know and thanks for your response.

Can anyone lend some assistance into this matter?

Thanks and Regards,

XP doesnt use FDisk...Plus,youre creating partitions with ME,ME only runs
on FAT32,xp uses NTFS file system...Try booting to xp
cd,recovery,type:DiskPart
In DiskPart delete the partitions, create one, press ESC key, type:EXIT Reboot
to xp cd,install & format..

when I tried to go to recovery, the computer become stock at the C:/windows
prompt, and I can't type anything.

thanks for the assistance.
