Windows Start wave file

Hello:
I have placed a 9.5mb wav file in Windows/Media and I
assigned it to the Windows Start Up sound. When Windows
starts, the file begins to play but only plays about a
third of the way through and quits. If I click on the
file in sounds and test it then it plays all the way
through. Is there a setting or timing that I can change
somewhere that will allow me to play this size wav. file.
I am running Win XP Pro. I used this same file in WIN ME
and I did not have this problem. I posted this
under "Music" and received a suggestion to use a Log-on
password but I would prefer not to do this. Any ideas on
solving this will be greatly appreciated.

This can happen when the WAVe stream is being output, as
during startup the WAVe device (a.k.a sound card) may be
reinitialized several times or interrupted with other
sounds, such as program startup sounds.
Steps:
1) Try setting the program startup sound to (none).
2) Try upgrading the sound card drivers. (it may add
support for additional WAVe sound channels)
3) Use a shorter sound file.
4) Use a different Sound Card.

That is an *enormous* file to be using for the startup sound. Several
minutes duration. I doubt if the system will go on playing once other
aspects of startup are completed in the background. If you do want
several minutes at boot, have the official startup sound off, and put
that file into the Startup folder for Media Player to attend to
