windows software to find regular expressions in files

I am looking for windows freeware to search for regular expressions in
files. The built-in Search for files or folders in windows is
unreliable, and it always couldn't search for text in files.

please advise. thanks!!
 
I just found this, I'll be adding it soon.

It's fast, has a simple but effective user interface and some nice
features including support for regular expressions. It started life as
a free product before going commercial however the free version is
still floating around and can be downloaded from a number of sites
including the one below. (361KB)

There are several out there. Completely free with source code included
(GNU) is AstroGrep:

One of the most popular with some self-advertising is Search&Replace of
InfoRapid:

Another popular search program with GUI is Agent Ransack, the free Lite
version of a Shareware program:

Somewhat irritating is the homepage of BareGrep. It seems to refer to
that program as time limited Demo, but it is still freeware:

If you like command line tools you should try the Grep port from here:

http://unxutils.sourceforge.net

It is one of the best ports available. (Look inside UnxUpdates.zip).
