Still trying to regain access to internet. Previous aid
from newsgroups didn't rectify problem. When starting
windodws, rec error message: failure while initializing
windows sockets. How can I solve this failure? thanks to
Clint and SaltPeter, but no solution thus far. Help

There is a solution but you aren't listening. Your software isn't W2K
compatible. Its trying to initialize a 16-bit Winsock subsystem that doesn't
exist on your system.

Unininstall the software. Configure RAS to connect manually or get the W2K
compliant version of the software. Even an NT4 version should work.

.SaltPeter: Thank you for the effort. However, I am not
running software when the error message occurs. My PC is
merely loading "my settings," and "my preferences" when
the message occurs It comes in a dialog box
labeled "Nielsen//Net Ratings" I have no idea what that
is referring to, or I would uninstall it. Any ideas??
