Windows Slowdown

Hi,
I have a problem.
I'm running XP pro (after upgrading from Home).
Recently, I've noticed a severe slowdown in how quickly
the computer starts up, and sometimes there are several
seconds delay between clicking on a folder or application
and it opening. The thing is, i am using almost none of
my CPU resources, and I ran a virus and spyware scan and
found nothing. Any help?

also, its unrelated, but if i try to print from Corel
WordPerfect10, the computer freezes.
