"windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computer'shardware"

I'm building a new computer for a client with Windows Vista Business
x64.

I just put the machine together today, but I when I tried to install
Vista I get an error.

Window setup copies files to the hard drive but after it reboots it
takes a very long time to get to the setup screen again and finally
messagebox with the error "Windows setup could not configure Windows
to run on this computer's hardware".

The system is Intel BOXDG35EC socket 775 motherboard (onboard video),
2 GB Crucial PC6400 RAM, Western Digital 500GB SATA-II hard drive,
Antec Earthwatts EA430 430W power supply, Lite-on DVD-RW drive.

I Googled a bit and I've found very few instances of this error and no
solutions.

Does someone know what might be going on here?

Thanks.

If the dvd drive is SATA what mode is it in in the BIOS? Try IDE mode.
Don't use Legacy IDE.

Curious

What onboard video chip do you have and how much memory does it have?
What model 64bit CPU chip do you have?
