Windows Services - How to Enable Them

The current version of Windows that I am using is XP Home Edition, with
Service Pack 2.

Recently, I have been having a problem with this "Generic Host Process"
error message that keeps showing up on start. I looked at some documents on
how to stop it from comming back, through Microsoft's online support center.
I followed the instructions about using msconfig.exe to uncheck all boxes on
the general tab except the boot.ini file. But the problem that I keep having
now is that because I followed those instructions, every time that I boot to
Windows, my services are disabled, resulting normal mode of Windows to run
in the safe mode environment. I looked in the Services menu to see what was
wrong, and nearly all services are disabled. I tried to turn them back on,
but I kept getting error messages about "modules" not being found, every time
I want to start the service again. I tried to use system restore but there
was not restore point created for this month for me to use (I guess that
unchecking some of those boxes may have had something to do with this). I
would have used Recovery Console, but that would have meant for me to delete
my current version of XP Service Pack 2. Is there something that I can do to
get my system back to the way it was?

So now, I can boot to Windows, but it is almost useless to do that as the
disabled services cause everything in Windows to be in the safe mode
environment.

Use Start - Run - SERVICES.MSC and see what it reports for the various
services.

Any service that is configured as Automatic or Manual and which is not
already started can be started by double-clicking on that line and
then clicking on the Start button.

Good luck
