Windows Security dialog box

I'm running Vista with Microsoft Mail and McAfee antivirus software. After
running fine for months, yesterday out of nowhere I get the dialog box to
verify the username and password. Entering these items led to no success in
accessing email.
This is the error message I'm receiving.
Account: 'mail.chartermi.net', Server: 'mail.chartermi.net', Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user name or password.', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Most McAfee or Norton antivirus programs, or a recent one from Trend,
cause various problems such as that within Windows Mail, although seldom
immediately. The only way to stop them from causing such problems is to
uninstall them. You may want to replace McAfee with an antivirus program
that works well with Windows Mail, such as avast!:

I recommend doing a custom install of avast! that leaves out the part
that scans email.

If uninstalling McAfee doesn't do enough, you can clear up file
corruption it left behind by deleting your email acount and recreating it.
 
Please call your Internet Service Provider, in your case Chartermi.net, and
ask them to reset your email account (password and username).

Having problems with the password. Cannot get my mail as I cannot get by
the [password.
