How do I remove Windows Scripting Host which helps automate tasks in
Microsoft Windows XP and 2000. I do not need any help in having automatic
scripts written.
I am concerned since I view this automation as a security vulnerability
because of my research
and warnings from other individuals. What does everyone think especially
MVP's think?

Google is your friend.

And it dosen't help "writing automatic scripts"...it's the script parser.

You turn it off, and you no longer have scripting. You may also break
applications that depend on it.

Personally, I've got it enabled in all my networks. It's not that big of a
security threat as long as you've got proper precautions in place on your
network (Defense in depth, proper AV (server and client)...)

Thank you so much Matt. This is exactly what I wanted. Have a great night
and I really appreciate you going to great time and effort to find this link.
I will now remove it from XP PRO. :>

Google is mostly my friend but sometimes a foe ; -| due to too much
information (TMO).

Do you or others have some suggested reading (printed or that I can print)
for a Non-windows server admin that would like to automate client
troubleshooting and repair/reconf via scripting? I'm have more of a difficult
time remembering mutiple NOS's and OS's cmd line cmds w/switches, in good
detail, so I tend to rely on a self made cheat sheet and a good book or two
on each OS I must use. Linux (several different flavors), Netware 5.1 and
6.5, inherited NT application server (BTW-works very well) and now a win2003
app server (so far so good but time will determine). Clients are mostly Win2k
with 30% win98, with all auth to Novell before local machine. I'm familiar
with basic logon scripts but nothing fancy.

So maybe one book to get me on my feet and another to be of more practical
use as well as reference. Idea's?
