i have attempted to repair my current version of windows
after recovering from a virus but i have run into a
problem. During the repair process the computer gets to
one particular spot during the installing devices process
and then reboots. So far i have not discovered a way
around this. I really want to save my current
installation of windows i do not want to reinstall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thankyou .

Hi

Try disconnecting the PC's hardware apart from the mouse, keyboard and video
card.

Hi

Are you using the directions here:

"How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install"
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Are there error messages that may point towards the exact problem?

yeh i followed all those steps correctly. its not that im
doing anything wrong. there are no error messages it just
resets itself for no apparent reason and tries to
continue where it left off before it will reset again.
its jsut one long loop. it gets half way through at least
but never completes.

Hi

Have you tried a 'Repair' install before? Did that work properly? Have you
replaced/added any hardware since the last installation of XP? Try
physically taking the hardware out & then replacing it.
