Every time we shutdown this computer it comes back with the following error
after login in.

Windows Registry Recovery
One of the files containing the system's registry data had to be recovered
by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful.

I cannot find any documentation on this issue, I don't know if we continue
running it like this it will crash eventually and stop functioning.

Install the following:

User Profile Hive Cleanup Service

What's User Profile Hive Cleanup Service (UPHClean)?

I had the same problem. I'm not using roaming profiles, nor connecting to a
domain, so none of the related suggestions worked; and I didn't have a
recovery checkpoint available (for unknown, possibly unrelated reasons).

I used a little utility called NTREGOPT (search on the web, and you'll find
it easily). It isn't designed for this purpose, but I suspected it would
work and it did.

You should probably go for the related backup utility, too. If NTREGOPT does
puke on you, you could wind up with a badly damaged system. I don't know how
likely that is to happen.

In my case, I was getting ready to reinstall anyways; but I took the
precaution of creating a checkpoint first.

When you things are sorted out and the registry is not causing problems
do a regular backup of it using ERUNT - simple and reliable.
