Windows Product Activation

I have a computer with Windows XP Professional that is
stuck in a loop. When I first boot it up, it asks if I
want to activate Windows Product. When I say yes, it takes
to me a screen that tells me my product is already
activated. When I click on OK in that screen, it goes back
to the previous question. If I say "No" to activation, it
doesn't let log in. I can run the computer in "Safe Mode",
but I would prefer no to.

Boot to Safe Mode, go to
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Activate Windows
and use the option to Activate by phone, calling a toll free number,
which will be given, to swap one long number for another. A ten minute
job, and much less hassle than trying to sort the muddle by other means
