Windows popup, no content

Dave

Whenever click on a link that needs a new window to popup,
the window comes up, with no content but whatever is on the
page it came from, and gives me the hourglass like it is
trying to load. I am doing this in Netscape because when I
clicked on new message, the window came up (this time
blank) and just sat there trying to load.

I have reset my internet settings. It started around the
time I installed the new version of Nortion Anti Virus. I
turned off the script blocking thinking that might be it
but nothing.

I am using a new Sony Vaio laptop with XP home.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Dave,
I'm having the same problem. I've done the same things to
fix it and nothing. I've sent an email to support and they
haven't got back to me. I did download Netscape and it has
fixed the problem of the internet surfing. Personal I
would like to get some help with this because I.E and
windows xp works hand in hand.

Guys,

I had the same problem earlier this year. It occurred
when I installed a particular Pop-up blocker. The only
way I know to resolve the problem is to do the following
steps:

Re-register the following files:
regsvr32 msscript.ocx
regsvr32 dispex.dll
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll

1. Click "Start," and then click "Run."
2. Type regsvr32 msscript.ocx in the "Open" box and
click "OK."
3. Repeat for dispex.dll,vbscript.dll, and scrrun.dll.

Then I got mcrepair which fixed any other problems that
the above didn't cover. Mcrepair can be gotten at:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/patch/1.
0/win98/en-us/mcrepair.exe

Save this file to your Desktop.

2. Open Windows Explorer.
3. Create a temporary backup directory called C:\Backup.
4. Now navigate to the C:\Windows\System directory.
5. Copy these files to the C:\Backup directory:

Asycfilt.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Olepro32.dll
Stdole2.tlb

6. Verify that copies of these files are in the C:\Backup
folder.
7. Return to your Desktop and double-click on the file
MCREPAIR.EXE.
8. Click Yes to any messages that appear. Once the process
is complete, you will be prompted to reboot your PC.
9. After your system boots, try the Windows Update site
again and if the download still hangs and/or you encounter
problems with other applications on your PC then you can
use the following steps to restore your original files:

1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. Navigate to the C:\Backup folder.
3. Copy the four files to this folder:

C:\Windows\System

4. Click the "Yes To All" button when the popup message
appears asking if you want to overwrite the existing files.
5. Now re-boot your PC.

And that did it for me. And no, I didn't come up with all
this on my own. I searched the web and found this
information. I just happened to save it to text file so
I'd have it incase I had the same problem. Maybe because
I did it will help you. Good luck!
